Academy of European Law - Corporate Communication Department

TN-EI/05

DESCRIPTION OF THE STEP TRAINEESHIP PROVIDER

An internship at ERA offers you the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in marketing and corporate communications, helping to promote our training activities for legal professionals across Europe. The Academy of European Law (ERA) was founded in 1992 at the initiative of the European Parliament to provide professional training and a forum for debate for legal practitioners in European law. Based in Trier, Germany, just over the border from the EU’s judicial capital, Luxembourg, ERA offers a dynamic and international working environment.
As a public, non-profit foundation supported by all EU Member States and the United Kingdom, ERA is co-funded by the European Union and the State of Rhineland-Palatinate. Its team of around 75 employees, including nearly 20 lawyers of different nationalities, as well as communications, technical and logistical specialists, organises face-to-face, hybrid and online events, develops e-learning programmes, and publishes the quarterly ERA Forum journal. ERA has a purpose-built conference centre in the ancient city of Trier in the heart of Germany’s Mosel wine region. Luxembourg, France and Belgium are literally nextdoor.

“For me, the best part was seeing how an organisation works from the inside. I learned a lot just by being part of an international team and attending legal events. It motivated me to stay active in the field of EU law and always do activities on top of my studies.”
- ELSA intern at ERA, Spring 2025
