The Justice for Minors Association was established in Iași in 2021, pursuant to Decision no. 61/PJ/2021, and is registered in the Registry of Associations and Foundations of the Iași Court under no. 15/A/10.02.2021. It brings together a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including lawyers, mediators, social workers, and psychologists, with two main objectives.
At the national level, the Association aims to create multidisciplinary centres dedicated to supporting minors and families. At the international level, it seeks to establish a network of professionals who collaborate on cases involving minors with cross-border elements.
Through this multidisciplinary approach, the Association aims to improve how civil cases involving minors and families are handled, making the administration of justice more effective and better aligned with the best interests of the child. Family disputes involving minors cannot be addressed solely from a legal perspective, as their underlying causes are often social and emotional. An exclusively legal approach is therefore unlikely to produce optimal outcomes.
This is reflected in issues such as parental alienation and the frequent difficulties in enforcing court decisions that establish contact between minors and one of their parents. In practice, a single factual situation may give rise to multiple legal proceedings, often averaging five separate cases, including divorce proceedings involving minors, interim orders regulating visitation, protection orders, enforcement appeals, and criminal complaints for non-compliance with court orders or custody arrangements.
