The Council of Europe is an International Organisation headquartered in Strasbourg which comprises 47 countries of Europe. It was set up to promote democracy and protect Human Rights and the rule of law in Europe.
The Committee on Social Affairs, Health, and Sustainable Development is part of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
The Committee considers issues relating to social rights and policies, public health, sustainable development, economic co-operation and development, local and regional democracy, and good governance in these fields, having special regard to the situation of the more vulnerable groups in society.
The Committee is also responsible for inter alia awarding the Europe Prize (created in 1955) which recognises the contribution made by towns and cities towards the promotion of the European ideal. For further information regarding the Committee please visit the website above.

Intergovernmental organisation
The tasks of the Trainee include inter alia:
- Conducting documentary and legal research for information;
- Drafting elements to support the work of rapporteurs on various reports;
- Assisting various activities of the Committee on Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development in the run-up to and during Assembly sessions (e.g. in connection to the Europe Prize, awareness-raising campaigns, etc.).
